Runaway Success
You may either have attended or heard of the Billetproof shows in the Michigan and the Northwest areas, but for the first time ever Alan Galbraith of Billetproof rolled into Ocala, Florida, introducing Billetproof at Don Garlits’ Museum of Drag Racing on March 22nd, 2008 Entries were open to 1964 and earlier traditional style rods and customs only. No visible billet anything. Traditionally styled choppers and bobbers, no modern West Coast Choppers, OCC style bikes, no trailer queens and no digital gauges.
The first official word on the street announcing this show was at the Daytona Turkey Run in November. The Tampa Poor Boys helped circulate flyers to the public about the upcoming Billetproof show and pre-party. With only a four month notice of the upcoming event, it is evident that the location and the show were welcomed. Gates had to be opened early due to the large number of vehicles that started to back up on the interstate.
