Growing up Gary loved ‘57 Chevys, but they were pretty common at shows and pricey. The “big one” needed to be different, something that could stand alone. Sure enough one day in a photograph there is was, a 1958 Buick, the more Gary looked at it the more he fell in love. Speaking of love, Gary got married. (I might add a personal note here, Gary married the right girl) A girl that was interested in his dream, the dream of the “big one”. The new Mrs. Guidroz encouraged Gary to search for a ‘58 Buick, without much twisting of the arm the search was on.

That was the summer of 2004 the ‘58 Buick Special found its new home. With lots of help from friends Gary opted to upgrade the drive-train from the original 364 nailhead, dynaflo trans and torque tube to a ‘64 425 nailhead, 700R4 trans and a ford rear end. Gary also added airbag suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes. As with everything, all good things take time, at a budgeted pace work continues on the ‘58.

The goal is to have the Buick runnin this winter and on the road by the summer of ‘09.

Gary is a lucky man ... he has found the right one in all areas of his life, with a supportive wife, Lindsey who by the way has claimed a ‘29 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan, (another future project) that has taken back seat to the ‘58 along with frequent calls from his mom who asks about her “Grandcars.”
