The KKOA has become known as the “polite side” of hot-rodding. Dedicated to the true kustom enthusiast.
Early on the 14th of June, we packed up our ‘66 BelAir wagon and headed to Gettysburg, PA. for the KKOA show. We attended this show last year and while the turnout wasn’t that big, there was some really nice stuff there. This year the turn out was bigger and American Graffiti star Paul LeMat (John Milner) was signing autographs in a booth behind a yellow ‘32 Deuce Coupe, a black ‘55 Chevy sedan and a ‘58 white Impala. The swap meet, although not large, held some interesting finds. The day was hot and sunny and we were glad to have our wagon which can hold ANY size cooler you care to bring.
There was a muffler rapping contest in the afternoon which included everything from a wild ‘54 Chevy 6 cyl. to a ‘58 Edselero, to a couple on their honeymoon with their ‘66 Caddy convertible. The Kopper Kart was there appearing for the second time on the east coast, since its debut at the Detroit Autorama, drawing everyone who would walk by to stop and admire it. KKOA president, Jerry Titus presented Vic Collins, owner of the Klone and the build team a special award, the “25th Champion of Kustoms.”
