Razor 69 and Back
Review and photos by David Russell
It was crazy hot – with a temperature in the mid 90’s and the infamous southeastern humidity, it was hard to be outside without sweating, even when standing still in the shade. But the heat was no match for a crazy cool show put on by Karb Kings and in the end, everyone appeared to have a great time, myself included.
This was the third year for the Razor 69 and Back show and my first time attending – I’d heard a lot of positive reviews so I was expecting no less. The Karb Kings didn’t disappoint. My buddy Sam and I hit the pre-party on Saturday night – there were Rock-a-Billy bands rocking out, a good number of hot rods and customs already there and a pin striping jam with stripers from around the world getting started inside the shop at Razor Custom Paint. Sam and I spent the evening catching up with a few old friends, and at about 10:00 p.m. headed back to our hotel – we wanted to get to bed so we could get up early and get to the show by 8:00 a.m.
When we arrived at the show Sunday morning, there were already a bunch of cars and bikes there. The Karb Kings had the show parking situation well under control and I must say they were organized. No wait at the gate. Sam entered his ‘57 Bel-Air and I went in as a spectator. You can’t beat the spectator admission – it was free!
I got busy snapping pictures and continued to do so throughout the day. There was quite a variety of cars at the show from highly modified, detailed customs to under construction rods that were pushed in by their proud owners. There were a number of bikes in attendance too – Trumpets, Harleys and even a couple of Japanese bobbers.
