George found Still Runnin Magazine through a post on “Ford Barn”. He belongs to a model “ A” club, the club is all about meeting and talking with other car people. The old model A’s are great conversation starters, as all our vintage cars seem to be. Here is the best part about this club, most of the members cars are drivers, not many trailer Queens in the group. The membership in Penn-Ohio model A’s is about 400. George has put 5,000 miles on his 1931 Victoria so far this year.
A month or so back George and his wife headed out to Belleville, Ohio where they met for the clubs fall banquet.
SR invites fellow gearheads to send photos of
your first or early cars along with a brief bio of
yourself and any history or story of the car.
So many of them got away, as they say,
but the memories are never gone.
“Hemi in the Barn” by Tom Cotter
“This book is the sequel to the “Cobra in the Barn”, so I guess I’m doing this bassackwards, but it was such a good read that I am going to have to read that one, too. Jay Leno not only does the forward, but relates a barn find story of his own.
For years I thought I was the only person who was looking behind sheds, barns and garages while traveling, but I was mistaken. There are a lot of us out there.
The stories contained in the book are a compilation of barn finds submitted by everyday people, so you are treated to the many different methods that were used to locate these hidden treasures. There is even a section of helpful hints to get you started.
I think you will find yourself taking this book with you should you find quiet time during your day.
A great gift for that gearhead on your list.”
