As we cruised down the Blue Ridge Parkway, we stopped at a restored log cabin and received info about the Peaks of Otter Lodge. The lodge sits on a lake with no phone or TV in the rooms and a nice restaurant all for about $100 a night.  Oh, also No cell phone coverage either. Talk about perfect! ... After a good dinner we sat by the lake and had deer come right up to the room looking for treats.

Sunday we drove further down the parkway and exited off to see the Natural Bridge. We came back by way of Route 460, a nice 4 lane road with lots of troopers patrolling ... I guess for our protection. As we neared Richmond, traffic increased due to construction. This is where the top radiator hose decided to let go. Getting the Vette off to the side of the road, I surveyed the problem. Lets see, cut the hose a little shorter ... trim the wire center back a little, loosen both sides of the hose and reposition and fill with antifreeze (that anyone who travels in a 50 year old car carries with them) and 'lo and behold mobile again.

It turned out to be a great weekend get-a-way, not too expensive, with about 400 miles on the Vette. I recommend short weekend getaways. Clears the head and blows out the carbon.
