Classic on the James

One of the premier European car shows on the eastern seaboard occurs on Sunday, September 20th on Brown’s Island in Richmond, Virginia. For the twenty-fifth year, the Central Virginia British Car Club will orchestrate its signature event with about 300 of the most spectacular cars ever to make it across the big pond. From Ferrari to Alfa Romeo, Jaguar to Porsche, and Lotus to Rolls Royce, automobile enthusiasts of all stripes will enjoy the experience of the widest variety of European cars including several racing cars.

The island setting in the James River adjacent to some of Richmond’s historic Civil War era landmarks complete an atmosphere that is second to none. A large exhibitor area includes food vendors, new cars including Lambourghini, Mini, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, and more, hard to find parts, and souvenirs for the classic and modern car fans.

Each year, a different marque is featured at the show. The last two years featured Ferrari and Jaguar. This year, to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Central Virginia British Car Club and the show, MG will be featured in recognition of the club’s origins as an MG club.

This is a pre-registration only show for display vehicles. Awards are presented for a wide variety of classes. The field is always full every year so register early. Spectators park nearby in clearly marked lots and ride Richmond’s free trolley to the island. There is a $5 entry fee to the island for spectators that includes a program. The show goes on rain or shine.
