Take A Trip...
Saturday morning, 8:30am. I woke up after a very busy week which had ended at 3:30 am, just five short hours ago. I had pushed myself (and my rig) well over legal hours to get some home time and did not have to be back at work till Tuesday morning. I woke my wife up and told her to pack a bag, we were headed ... somewhere. We threw two bags into the trunk of our '58 Vette, had breakfast with friends, then headed for the Blue Ridge mountains of VA.
We left Richmond with the top down, cool wind blowing around us and the glass packs singing behind us. Stopping for gas I found a '55 BelAir hardtop badly rusted but sporting a nice set of American Racing wheels parked behind a building. Back on I-64 the Vette purred along at 75 mph (thanks to a 308 rear ) 'til we reached the top of Afton mountain.
I had been on the Skyline Drive many times but had never driven on the Blue Ridge section which heads down through Roanoke to North Carolina.
