YANKEE DAVE’S ROADSTER HAS BEEN FOUND!
It turned up is SE PA in relatively good condition. Details on the recovery not yet known.
A Personal Message from Dave & Kitty,
Apparently so many people were looking that whoever ended up with it felt compelled to turn it over. Hopefully this kind of interest from the HAMB and the Hot Rod World in general can help recover more cars and lead to a great reduction in this happening. Someone said that it must feel horrible to have this happen ... it does and believe me, for people like us who do so much ourselves it's a terrible feeling to be so helpless and able to do very little.
I believe it NEVER would have happened without the high profile created by the Hot Rod Community and the massive attention from the HAMB. I Really Can't Thank Everyone Enough for working so hard to spread the word. I Want to Thank Everyone for all the effort they put into the search, which made it possible to be found. This just proves how great of a community we have here in the Hot Rod World.
Thank You All Soo Much!! -Yankee Dave & Kitty

STOLEN: February 5th, 2008
Fellow Gearheads,
I was awakened early Saturday morning by a call from the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police. The had found my stripped car in an alleyway in north Minneapolis. I have (had) a 1973 red El Camino with a 383 stroker motor and a 700 R4 tranny. Some low down SOB stole her from my father's heated underground (security) parking area. They popped the steering lock and drove her off. She was mint. She had 16x8 Torque Thrust D's wheels and Kumho tires. The wheels have a grey center and satin rim. The motor has a 770 Demon carb and a hi rise Edelbrock manifold. The valve covers say "Chevrolet". Lots of fake stainless mesh hose with red or blue fittings. MSG 7 ignition and distributor. Chrome alternator and power steering pump. The losers took the rear end, a ten bolt with an Auburn posi unit and new axles. They even took the three Corvette style cross flag emblems off the sides and rear. She had big five inch black with white numbers, classic tach and speedo gauges and destroyed the dash getting them out, along with several other gauges. The stereo was a pile, a Pioneer with a detachable face. I am out about $20,000, with limited insurance for a car that is 34 years old. I may collect several thousand, if I'm lucky. Greasy fingerprints were left all over the car, especially the hood. If you happen to have any info that may help please Contact at:

Something to Reflect Upon …
When you buy parts that are stolen or hot - sometimes you may not know, but if the price is too good to be true … - You are perpetuating the problem. Consider that the next time … someone may be buying your stuff!!
A Word From Big John
Make sure your car is insured correctly. A "stated value" will save you if (God forbid) something happens. Also, keep up on the value and raise it accordingly with your insurance company when appropriate.
If your insurance will not do this, find one that will. Always include pictures so there is no doubt. We personally carry State Farm on all 4 of our antiques have a "stated value". I learned the hard way after totaling a '57 wagon that I had two and half years of work in and had just finished when I rolled it over totaling it. Maybe we can learn from other's misfortune.
