LOS ANGELES - May 11, 2012 - Carroll Shelby International, Inc., (OTC: CSBI.PK) announced today that Carroll Hall Shelby, a man whose vision for performance transformed the automobile industry, has died at age 89. Mr. Shelby passed away yesterday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. The cause of death was not disclosed.   Born on Jan. 11, 1923, Carroll Shelby was one of America's greatest success stories.  Championship-winning racecar driver, "flying sergeant" wartime pilot, philanthropist, entrepreneur, car manufacturer and racing team owner, he embodied the ingenuity, tenacity and grit to overcome any obstacle. He is perhaps the only person to have worked at a visible level with all three major American automobile manufacturers.   Carroll Shelby founded Carroll Shelby International, a publicly held corporation involved in many industries. His licensing arm has agreements with industry giants, such as Mattel, Sony, Ford Motor Company and Electronic Arts. His car company, Shelby American, has a thriving parts business as well as a line of muscle cars including the Shelby GT500 Super Snake, Shelby GT350 and Shelby GTS. The Las Vegas-based company also manufactures a limited number of the 1960s Shelby 289 "street," 289 FIA, 427 S/C and Daytona Coupe Cobras.   Shelby considered his greatest achievement to be the establishment of the Carroll Shelby Foundation™. Another great day with the Kid's......
Pulled the Donner Engine, as we find out, most of the original engine is now gone.
Did some Brake Work, more body work.
We have a bunch of the basics covered, these kids are soaking it up....

We do not have a spot yet. We are not sure the car will be ready, That is a target date, When it comes closer, we will try to get sponsership\permission to bring the car out.

Hi everyone Charlie Here ...... Phil Galasso, former chief engineer and all around can - do radio guy is spearheading a movement to get some interested parties together and buy WARM. He says he can keep it going until there is revenue to buy some new equipment. I'm in, and looking to help out any way I can.

In other news.... Plans going strong for PDL 2012, lots going on in the background here. daily anti-raindances performed. Sorry to say someones been diamantling the old bleachers and scale for the scrap metal. Will have a work party for trimming brush and will need some help here. Will be in touch. Sorry its been a while since I've written but busy time for me.

Ed, Maybe someday I'll try my hand back at modeling, haven't dont it since my son was young, but right now I am trying to re-model my laundry room with some shelves,  so I am working in XL Scale Stuff right now. LOL

Lea, doing either of John's Corvette or Doc Hudson in scale shouldn't be too difficult . Monogram once kitted the 58 in 1-24th scale . A resin Company, Replicias and Miniatures of Maryland , one of Lyles friends does the 58 hood . Meanwhile for Hudson fanatics , both the 53 2dr sedan and a 52 Hudson - Tim Flock Version are currently avalible in hobby stores . The Hudsons are both 1-25th scale and very detailed .

Last weekend I got to sit on the Motorcycle used in the Nicolas Cage film GHOST RIDER. The Movie Prop House owns ALL of the bikes used in both of the GHOST RIDER films. They brought this bike to the 25th Annual Classic Chevys Of SoCal Car Show for folks like me to see in person. Pretty cool huh?

Carroll Shelby Who Virtually Touched Every Corner of the Automotive World Dies at 89 Years Old on Thursday, May 10th. Shelby Parlayed a Short Lived Racing Career into Building Hi-Performance Street Legal Cars.
According to The Peterson Museum, "Carroll Was the Only Individual to Have Influenced the Designs of All 3 Major American Automakers. Even Recently Carroll Was Working on an Experimental Engine."

Thanks Jerry,  were hoping to pass the tourch, we have some great mentors and a good group of kids this year..
Were trying to line up tours in all different areas of automotive work. Drag Race shops, NASCAR, INDY, Hot Rod Shops, Collector, Autobody, Mechancial.. We want them to see all the areas that they can be involved in, given the right oportunities...and we have most of them in the greater Indianapolis area... Just got to get hooked up with them..

Sorry to hear about the set-backs Ed! Rats!
About the fuel lines, you are OK using rubber flex lines, more vintage & period correct. I think she had the lines converted into hard metal lines going to a flex by the firewall by the time we shot the engine in the modern era. Either way is fine. You did an awesome job!!!

Lea, I will only disclose here publicly that my childhood sucked so bad , it was beyond desaster . As far as the contest goes , go to the Model Builders Forum. I sent it to you in a personal e-mail that had the Twin Chimney Crown station last month . I wanted to go to maryland with it tomorrow , but I have once again had some financial setbacks this month . Maybe I can attend Maryland next year ...........

Jerry, from the pictures I had , I saw rubber fuel lines going back to a firewall block . That could be tough to correct now . As for the "Pot " air cleaners, I wasn't sure as to what was used . I guess I need to see if I can find three. Thank you again for all of the help as without you and of course , our FEARLESS Administrator , Ms Lea , I really would not have been able to have done this . Meanwhile , I entered the model in another On Line model contest for May . Thank you again Jerry !!!!!!!!!

Absolutely FANTASTIC job Ed!!!!! One thing, did you decide to leave off the three Air Cleaners? They are the same type as my car has. Here is a photo taken when Kent redid the Deuce's carbs years ago. Fuel lines are not current, they were changed later to shiney hard lines that went back towards the firewall. LOOKIN' GOOD!!! -Jer:>)
p.s.- The photo of the three metal lines coming into one fuel block is Challenger's setup.

(UPDATE) Connecticut Bill to Restrict Access to Antique Vehicle Registration and Increase Fees Again Dies as Session Ends Legislation (H.B. 5405) that threatened to increase the age requirement for vehicles eligible for registration as “antique, rare or special interest motor vehicles” died when the Connecticut Legislature adjourned for the year, suffering the same fate as an identical bill last year.  The bill had been approved by the Joint Committee on Planning and Development by a narrow 10-9 vote.  Under the measure, vehicles seeking registration as antique, rare or special interest motor vehicles would have been required to be at least 30 years old.  Currently, vehicles 20 years old or older are eligible for this status and special license plates.  For the purpose of property taxes, the bill also increased the maximum assessment of these vehicles to $2,500.   Antique, rare or special interest motor vehicles are currently assessed at a rate of $500 and owners pay personal property taxes on that amount. Paul Goldberger, the January 2011 issue of Vanity Fair, took a heritage walk through one of the most prestigious and private collection of cars- American Fashion Designer Ralph Lauren’s celestial garage. Shown in the image is the dedicated Ferrari room which shows the roaring 1958 Testa Rossa.
The designer is known to recently renovate the haven for his wheels at his lavish Westchester, NY estate. The stupendous collection of over 60 cars equals to just a dream for the lesser mortals here. All of these are registered and its just a matter of the designer’s discretion as to which of these is going to be his wheels for the day.
The collection has some rare names like 1936 <a href="http://www.jameslist.com/cars/bugatti">Bugatti</a> Type 57SC Atlantic ( estimated worth $40 million), 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Grand Prix, a 1938 Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia roadster, the world’s only 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” roadster, a 1957 Jaguar XKSS, a McLaren F1, a 1929 “Blower” Bentley, a Ferrari 250 GT, and last but definitely not the least the prestigious Lamborghini Reventon Roadster.

When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 25 cents a gallon. (circa 1957) Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.

SAN SECURES U.S. SENATE RESOLUTION DESIGNATING JULY 13th AS “COLLECTOR CAR APPRECIATION DAY”   Lawmakers Acknowledge Importance of Collection and Restoration of Collector Cars   The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 452 (S. Res. 452) at the request of the SEMA Action Network (SAN) designating July 13, 2012 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”  The date marks the third commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.   A growing list of scheduled events, like car shows, cruise-ins and parades, will be held in support of this annual celebration. This is a great program, and although were struggling to find funding in thes hard econimic times, a lot of personal money is benig spent to keep going.
The kids are great, most are interested in cars and want to learn more, we have some good motorheads...

Were looking foward to a fun summer, as we progress, the kids see progress and that gives them drive to keep going..
Were trying to see if we have the complete motor, this weekend...we do have a stack of parts  :-)
Our goal this year is just to make that a driver...then advance next year to a car we can drag race in limited fashion..just to expose them to that aspect of the hobby..

We wish to introduce you to a program that we have been running for several years in Indianapolis. Through numerous contacts in our business, we have come to see a need to bring this program to a broader and wider area. “Kids with Speed” was developed to bring kids ages 14 to 19 in off the street, and into a structured program which provides the youth the much needed support that often makes them join a gang. It is that sense of belonging, being needed and valued as a positive member of the team. As a team participants will be active members of an automotive team from the ground up. The culmination of all their hard work will result in the development of a finished car which will then be show and local events and ultimately shown and raffled off at the US Nationals in August..
 This program was designed to expose kids to all aspects of the automotive hobby, including such areas as auto mechanics, auto body work, including custom painting, metal fabrication, math skills including calculating engine horsepower gained from what improvements. Also involved are learning skills such as reading competition spec manuals to calculate building and maintaining a race car to sanctioned standards. This assists in building math and logical thinking skills which most young kids lack today. This program will also focus on budgeting and money handling as they will be involved in promoting and maintaining the car’s over all financial budget.

V8 Sounds Good

Especially in a Tunnel .. Check out this video of a 2011 Tunnel Run in the UK - his video documents a run through the newly opened Hindhead Tunnel that took place on the 21st of August 2011. In the convoy were all sorts of cars from American V8's through english classics, to rally cars (Mistubishi Evo), Supercars (Ferrari), and a couple of bikers. A great day was had by all and we look forward to doing it again soon. Contrary to the popular belief of newspapers that have nothing better to write about, no laws were broken and there was no dangerous driving whatsoever; just a group of people that love cars having a little fun.
